TWO Stockport lads are going on the ride of their lives next month - cycling more than 1,000 in 10 days.

Oliver Reece from Davenport, and Tim Varetto, from Heaton Mersey, will be peddling from Barcelona to Liverpool on April 22 along with seven other charity riders

They have set their sights on raising £25,000 between them for cancer charity, The Marina Dalglish Foundation, to raise money for the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology in Liverpool.

Web Designer Oliver, 28, has done the 'odd triathlon' before but says he's never done anything like this challenging.

The lads will be have to cycle 115 miles a day to complete the route, as they will be taking a well deserved break on day five to watch a football match.

Oliver said: "One of the legs of the route is the same as this year's Tour de France, so it's going to be tough but we're going to make it."

The boys have been training every day before work, and then going for bike rides in the Peak District at the weekends.

As well as getting sponsored, the team have oraganised a 'dress down for work' day on Friday, March 27. People simply pay a pound and then can keep it casual for work, all for a good cause.

On May 8 there will also be a fundraiser dinner at Anfield, with live entertainment, a raffle, auction and special guests.

We are delighted that The Marina Dalglish Appeal has reached its original target of £1.5m and that the centre for Oncology at University Hospital, Aintree, opened on 4th June 2007... It is through your continued support and generous contributions that we have been able to achieve our goal.

We have now set ourselves a new and exciting challenge in conjunction with Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology to help build a much needed Radiotherapy Centre in University Hospital Aintree, bringing the treatment closer to the patients.

Kenny and myself have been constantly amazed at how much time, effort and money you have all been willing to donate, and we realize that nothing would be possible without your help. Thank you all very much and hopefully together we can achieve our new goal!
