Active Bike Challenge

On April 28th 2011, 10 cyclists will be flying from Manchester to Milan to embark on a charity bike ride. We will be raising awareness and money for the Geoff Thomas Foundation.

Geoff’s fund-raising has now grown into the Geoff Thomas Foundation – a campaigning organisation that aims to raise £20 million to fund drug trials at six world-class centres, in Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Bart’s London, Oxford and Cambridge. The goal is to ensure that by 2015 all blood cancer patients have access to potentially curative and life-enhancing treatments.

The aim of our event is to cycle the 1000 miles from the San Siro, Milan to City of Manchester in just 10 days.

With your support we're are looking to raise over £10,000 towards the charity.

Help make a diffrence to change people's lives forever.

THE TEAM.

In 2003, Geoff Thomas, former -England and Crystal Palace footballer was diagnosed with leukaemia. Geoff was lucky, a bone marrow transplant from his sister saved his life. Not every blood cancer patient is so lucky.

The Geoff Thomas Foundation is working with charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to get new treatments to blood cancer patients in the UK, faster. Geoff is working to raise money for a network of national centres, allowing patients to benefit from the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers.

Inspired by the bravery of patients around him and a determination to beat blood cancers, he set up the Geoff Thomas Foundation. Geoff took on the Tour de France in 2005 and again in 2007 to raise money for research. He was awarded the 2005 BBC Sports Personality Helen Rollason Award in recognition of his charity work.
